Dept. Round-up: Aug. 30, 2019

  • It’s that time again! Time for our quarterly newsletter, if you aren’t subscribed to our newsletter you can check it out here. If you want to stay up-to-date with our quarterly newsletters, you can subscribe here.
  • We are constantly amazed by the fact that people don’t know how to offer constructive criticism. Feedback should be welcome not feared. Make sure you’re offering it productively with these tips.
  • If you haven’t noticed we are passionate about being environmentally conscious. We really appreciated this quiz that tests your knowledge of fighting climate change. We were definitely surprised by some things, hopefully, it will be eye-opening for you as well.
  • Obviously, the VMA’s took place this week in Newark (what?) and Missy Elliot FINALLY received the MTV Video Vanguard award. If you somehow missed it, you should definitely take 7 minutes out of your day to watch Missys first VMAs set in 16 years.
  • Networking events can be hard, especially if you can’t think of a way to start the conversation. We like this list of 150 random facts to get your conversation started in a less than conventional way.
  • Podcast recommendation. We are pretty fond of Lynn Boyden and attended her talk at #IAC19 about this topic. Check out this episode UX-Radio where they discuss Lynn’s practices for Quantifying Qualitative Decisions.
  • Finally, is the round-up really complete if we haven’t included some sort of cute animal? Owl Cat may have become a new obsession in the office. The person who owns this cat has too much time, too much energy, and too much patience. However, the results of that excess have made all of these videos and movies much better.
