NYU Libraries
Challenge
The content of the previous NYU website had become expansive and suffered from link sprawl.Approach
The process began with a competitive analysis of other successful academic library websites. After inventorying six other schools' homepages and menus, we used a content planning matrix to ensure that we had covered every type of user that utilizes the NYU Libraries website. A card sort helped us categorize that information, and that was translated into a site map.Result
To incorporate our findings in the competitive review of homepages, we created a mock-up of a potential redesign of the NYU Libraries homepage layout. This work was used by the NYU Libraries redesign committee to inform the new design of the website.
