Be a Learning Hero (BALH) inherited the website of another non-profit, Raise the Bar, and wanted to import and preserve the new content while moving it to the BALH website. Though they had similar audiences, the sites’ structures, and the varied and differing views and priorities from the two teams had to be managed and incorporated.
Stakeholder interviews revealed priorities (differing and similar) between the two teams. We had the internal teams participate in a card sort based on the content from both sites. With this, we combined and determined the best organization regardless of origin or site design. The card sort informed the recommended navigation for the new and current site.
In the end, the team favored their existing navigation heavily and decided to rely on ad buys and google search results to lead users into the depth of the site as opposed to the sites navigation.
